US Delivers Weapons for the Philippine Air Force

On Saturday, The US Embassy in Manila said that “officials from the Joint United States Military Assistance Group (JUSMAG) recently provide 1,040 rocket motors and 992 rockets to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) through the Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (MLSA).”

Philippine Air Force received counterterrorism weapons and equipment from the United States to help its operations in Mindanao particularly in the ongoing conflict in Marawi City.

The United States has transferred rocket motors and rockets to the Philippine Air Forces to aid in the government’s counterterrorism efforts. US Embassy said those transfers would surely help the Armed Forces of the Philippines in their conflict against terrorist attack.

The Embassy added that Through the MLSA, the AFP could get select munitions and equipment from US military stock in an accelerated process kept for allies and close partners of the United States.

It said upcoming deliveries cover 250 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and 1,000 M203 grenade launchers delivered for the Philippine Army.

The United States is a proud steadfast ally of Philippines, and they will continue to support the Philippines in their counterterrorism needs, us embassy added.

The Philippines and the US are united by a Mutual Defense Treaty inked in 1951 and a more current Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) signed in 2014.
