The Philippine Air Force is ready to receive the two Attack Helicopter from Jordan, but unfortunately on another delay.
According to the Philippine Air Force chief, the attack helicopters supposedly arrived this month. But is delayed again due to pilots ongoing training. The delivery will be move early next year.
The Jordanian government-guaranteed last year, they will provide two Bell AH-1 Cobra Attack helicopters during the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Armament
General Dynamics 20 mm (0.787 in) M197 3-barreled Gatling cannon
Hydra 70 2.75 in (70 mm) rockets – 7 rockets mounted in the M260 launcher or 19 rockets in the M261 launcher
TOW Missiles – 4 or 8 missiles mounted in two-missile launchers on each hardpoint
Bell AH-1 Cobra – Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AH-1_Cobra
Based on helicopter armament capability, the AH-1F Cobra granted to the Philippines is capable of employing guided anti-tank missiles. Maybe our Airforce does not need that kind of munition considering the primary purpose of attack helicopter is for counter-insurgency operation. Anti-tank missiles are no use as of now but anyway thanks to this reserve strength, maybe our air force could use that someday.
As of now, the Philippine air force has several attack helicopter in its record but still not enough to cover the whole country. Bringing this two attack helicopter in the country will provide additional ability to support our ground troops during the operation.
