Royal New Zealand Navy ship HMNZS Te Kaha F77 arrives and departs at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for Rim of the Pacific 2016.

HMNZS Te Kaha (F77) is one of ten Anzac class frigates, and one of two serving in the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN). The name Te Kaha is Māori, meaning ‘fighting prowess’ or ‘strength.

The RNZN’s ANZAC class frigate are versatile warships that provide the New Zealand Government and Defence Force with key capabilities:

  • Sustained and independent patrol and surveillance capability
  • Capability to work in multi-national naval task-forces
  • Weapons and systems to defend against air or submarine attack
  • Capability to support land forces using naval gunfire.
