SAN DIEGO (June 29, 2016) The Mexican navy tank landing ship ARM Usumacinta (A-412) transits the San Diego bay to participate in the Southern California portion of the Rim of the Pacific 2016 exercise.

Frederick decommissioned on 5 October 2002, the last of her class to do so, and was transferred on 22 November that year to the Mexican Navy for $4mn. She was commissioned as ARM Usumacinta (A-412).

ARM Usumacinta, along with an Mi-17 helicopter and a Naval Infantry detachment, took part in RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific Exercise) 2012 and this year.

RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
