The Philippine Red Cross acquired the vessel for $1.75 million or 88 million pesos. Previously called M/V Susitna, the ship originated from Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the US state of Alaska.

The Philippine Red Cross ship will be used for its disaster response and relief efforts.

The humanitarian ship is capable of transporting up to 120 passengers and up to 35-ton overall freight capacity.
