The M777 howitzer was hooked to the CH-53E by a Helicopter Support Team from Combat Logistics Battalion 3 representing the logistics combat element. The Marines from Battery A, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines fired the M777 howitzer.

U.S. Marines conduct an artillery raid at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii July 19, 2016. The raid utilized support from all elements of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force known as Provisional Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Hawaii. The helicopter was flown by Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 representing the aviation combat element.

The command element provided support. The units are from III Marine Expeditionary Force participating in Rim of the Pacific 2016, a multinational military exercise, from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands.
