Air defense was the primary topic of discussion as members of the Hawaii Air National Guard recently completed a Subject Matter Expert Exchange with the Philippine Air Force.
The exchange was part of the National Guard State Partnership Program, which pairs a state’s National Guard with a partner country to help build capacity and security cooperation. The month-long exchange involved reciprocal visits to the respective countries by members of both Air Forces.
One of these activities that they have in order to share the competency with us, their Allied Nation, U.S. and the Philippines, is through the Hawaii Air National Guard, who’ve been very instrumental in teaching us some of the competencies and transfer that information over to the Philippine Air Force.
Although air defense was the overarching theme of the exchange, other topics of discussion included cyber security and aerospace medicine. Reporting for the Hawaii Air National Guard, I’m Senior Airman Orlando Corpuz.
