The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has allocated the sum of PHP 40 Million for the acquisition of brand-new motors for its 2.75-inch rockets which are being used to arm its MD-520 and AW-109 attack helicopters.

Two out of eight helicopters were delivered in December 2014 and commissioned in August 2015. Equipped with rocket launchers, two .50 caliber machine guns, this helicopters are also capable of navigating in bad weather and able to operate day & night operations.

AgustaWestland AW109E Power helicopter is a three-ton class eight seat twin engine helicopter, often seen as one of the aircraft with the longest range and largest mission capability while being quite cost-effective.

Aside from PHP 40 million acquisition of brand-new motors for the assault helicopter rockets, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) also allocated the sum of PHP 17.299 million worth of .50 caliber linked and aerial machine gun rounds.

The 2.75 inch-rockets is used primarily for ground attack missions while the shells are used to equip the PAF’s attack helicopters and other aircraft, as well as security vehicles fitted with .50 caliber machine guns.
